This may seem at first to be nothing but a careless mistake, but do not be fooled. In the second panel, we see the son is in a generally happy mood, therefore his hair and bright and reflects his sunny attitude. However, in the third panel we catch a glimpse of his hair halfway through its transition to dark, jet black. The son is retreating to his room to brood and wishes his father’s raging alcoholism wouldn’t get between their relationship.
